Downtown Niagara Street: Then, Now, and Beyond…

The “Downtown-West” portion of Welland’s Community Improvement Plan (CIP) includes the southernmost section of Niagara Street, between the Welland River and West Main St. Below are some pictures of what this once-bustling neighbourhood looked like in the past, how it looks now, and what it might look like in the future. The photos (all of which were taken looking south down Niagara St. towards West Main St.) are a striking reminder of what this city was once capable of and what it can become.
